Zambia has continued to present a favourable investment in the mining sector offering quality assets and new mining opportunities.

Speaking during an interview on a tour of Lumwana Copper Mine, the new Managing Director, Randy Buffington, said the country has quality assets available and presents opportunities that are new to the world in the mining sector.

Barrick Gold took over ownership of Lumwana mine from Equinox Minerals Limited in July 2011 and Mr. Buffington so far feels that Zambia offers good investment in the mining sector especially in terms of the dollar.

 Mr. Buffington added that the experience at Lumwana mine has so far been great and exciting with quality professional staff and work workforce.

 Mr. Buffington noted that the mine will align itself with the governments’ expectations of benefits trickling down to the community emphasized by the Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry, Robert Sichinga during his recent  the tour of the mine.

 He said that the mine will seek to partner and work with the local people, build capacity and invest in the community and education.
