An eight-member German investment mission is expected to visit Zambia in the next few weeks to explore investment opportunities in the energy sector in this country, says Zambian Ambassador to Germany Anthony Mukwita.

The visit follows assurances made by the South Africa-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Project Manager Markus Wolf, says Mukwita. The investors are interested in investing in the energy sector following recent policy decisions by the Zambian government to remove energy subsidies.

He said this during an Information Workshop on investment opportunities in the Zambian energy sector organized by the Germany Corporation for International Corporation (GIZ), a German government international investment agency.

Mukwita told then workshop, which was held last week in Germany, that the Zambian Embassy in Berlin would work with the German Chamber of business to step up economic diplomacy.

Meanwhile, Wolf expressed optimism that the visit would translate into real investments and partnerships between Zambian and German investors, according to a statement receivec here over the weekend from the Zambian Embassy in Berlin.
