Zambia is on of the most beautiful countries in the world, it is endowed with vast natural resources in the form of rivers, lakes, hills, animal and bird sanctuaries. Although the country is richly endowed with all these resources, only a small proportion of these resources has been exploited so far.

The tourism industry is one of the country’s economic sectors that has been identified as one of the priority sectors that government wants to attract investment to because of the social and economic value that the tourism industry offers to the Zambian economy.

In Tourism, the Government is committed to ensuring that Zambia becomes a major tourist destination of choice with unique features.

Marketing as “the real Africa”, Zambia boasts of tremendous assets that have great potential for further, intensified development of its tourism industry.

This magnificent country boasts of one of the largest concentrations of game in Africa, as well as stunning scenery and a rich and colourful cultural heritage. An endlessly absorbing land with a rhythm and essence of its own, Zambia invites exploration and offers innumerable discoveries and adventures.

Potential of Zambia as a “one-stop” destination offers excellent prospects for advancement of this highly under-developed sector. With 19 National Parks, 23 Game Management Areas, the largest Water Fall in the world, and 23 million hectares devoted to the conservation of spectacular variety of animals, the scope for an integrated quality tourism related investment is very attractive.

Opportunities to promote adventure holidays -white-water rafting, canoeing, rock-climbing, hang-gliding, fishing, bungi-jumping at Victoria Falls including its unique walking safaris offer excellent tourism potential.

The shortfall of quality vacation accommodation of all types presents the largest single investment opportunity, as well as development of low-cost lodges for local tourists.

Tourism projects, such as new hotels, create direct employment opportunities. More importantly though, sustainable tourism projects provide an opportunity for the establishment of secondary businesses which service the hotels directly or provide goods or services for consumption or use by the tourists. Investing ion Zambia’s tourism industry will be of benefit to both the investor and the Zambian population an example of a successful tourism enterprise is the Sun International Hotels.
