ZDA Prepares Businesses to Export

In the bid to grow the export base of the country, the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has continued training growth-oriented businesses in export readiness.

The ZDA trained over 35 MSMEs, from various sectors, to help them assess their capacity and resources to deliver a marketable product or service on an international scale at a competitive price.

Speaking when she opened the training workshop in Lusaka, ZDA Director Export Promotion Jessica Chombo said the Agency is upbeat in facilitating and creating a conducive and enabling environment for the private sector to thrive in the country through various initiatives.

Mrs Chombo stated that in terms of trade, the government has signed several bilateral and multilateral agreements meant to enhance trade in the region, Africa and the world at large.

She said the ZDA in supporting central government’s efforts is building capacity in exporters and facilitating market access through various initiatives.

“Beyond the export readiness training, the Agency further facilitates market access for Zambian businesses through disseminating market information, trade missions, and participation in international trade fairs, business to business (B2B) meetings and other networking opportunities,” explained Mrs Chombo.

She stated that after government and ZDA have done their part, it was up to the private sector to meet the demands of the export market by producing high quality products and services and working together in order to meet the required volumes.

“I therefore urge you to interact among yourselves and identify areas of collaboration. I have heard of aggregators among yourselves, you can work together to satisfy the yawning export market.

The training was held from 26th to 28th March 2024 at the ZDA premises in Lusaka.
